Group exercise classes at council-run facilities: a guide
Paris city halls run weekly group sessions in yoga, cycling drills and strength circuits at municipal sports centers from July through September.
How we reported this

The City of Paris added 40 new group exercise slots across its arrondissement facilities this month, with morning yoga on the banks of the Seine and evening cycling drills inside Bois de Boulogne gyms now listed on the municipal booking portal.
Interest in these classes has grown since the health authority extended its preventive care push in 2025, when officials noted that residents who joined supervised group activity used fewer specialist visits under the national insurance system. Council venues keep fees low because they operate under the same budget that funds Tuileries Gardens yoga mats and the network of protected bike lanes.
Two venues to try first
The Gymnase Jean Bouin in the 16th arrondissement offers circuit classes every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 a.m. for residents who show a Paris Pass card, while the Centre Sportif de la Jonquière in the 17th runs mixed-level strength sessions on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. that finish with a cool-down along the adjacent cycle path. Both sites accept drop-ins up to 30 minutes before start time and provide mats and resistance bands on site.
City data released in May showed 312,000 individual attendances at these council classes during the previous 12 months, with an average price of 3.50 euros per session when purchased in a ten-class carnet. The same report recorded a 19 percent rise in first-time participants aged 45 to 64 compared with 2024 figures.
Next steps for new participants
Anyone can reserve a place through the Paris.fr sports calendar or by visiting the reception desk at their nearest mairie with proof of address. Sessions fill quickly in July, so checking availability the evening before is recommended. Residents should speak with their general practitioner before beginning any new routine.
